The Ocean City Lions Club has
embarked on a project that will assist our injured military heroes from the wars
in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Many have been killed and many more have been injured. Our hearts and our
prayers go to the families of those killed while attempting to protect our
freedom from terrorist actions.
Our Lions Club wants to assist those who have been injured. At the time of
their injuries they are rushed immediately to the closest medical facility for
first aid treatment and then transferred to the Landstuhl Army Medical Center in
Germany.
When rushed to the first medical facility all of their personal belongings are
left behind and may never catch up with them. While in the hospital at
Landstuhl many of them may be able to go to different facilities but all they
have to wear is the hospital pajamas and robe.
Large corporations and other organizations have furnished these heroes with
needed clothing, toilet articles, phone cards, cash etc that is coordinated by
the Chaplain’s office and volunteers with Pastoral Services. They
explained that the supplies are dwindling and additional supplies are needed.
The Ocean City Lions Club is asking for support to furnish the following to be
used by the wounded military personnel, which will also let them know that we
care about them and what they are doing:
1.
New clothing of
various sizes such as blue jeans, shirts, tee shirts, jackets,
socks, belts, gloves, men’s and women’s underwear,
women’s sports bras and bedroom slippers.
2.
Telephone
calling cards.
3.
Cash
in the form of checks made payable to the Ocean City Lions Charities Inc.
Proclamations have been received from the
Town of Ocean City,
the Worcester County Commissioners and
the Town of Berlin supporting this effort.
The
Ocean City Lions Club has formed a separate corporation that will include this
project. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Receipts will be furnished for
all donations.
We are asking our community to make these young military personnel feel
wanted and appreciated. The Ocean City Lions Club thanks you for your
generous support.

AS OF THIS DATE THE OCEAN CITY LIONS HAVE SENT OVER 126 BOXES OF
NEEDED SUPPLIES TO OUR WOUNDED MILITARY HEROES.
OVER 8600 ITEMS HAVE BEEN SENT, ALONG WITH $65,000 IN GIFT CARDS.
IMPORTANT QUOTE: “The
gift cards could not have come at a better time. We came close to running
out of a lot of items. Because of the Ocean City Lions Club’s generous
donation, we survived the storm. We would have had a tough time clothing
our Wounded Warriors without your help. So please let everyone know that
their contribution to this cause is greatly appreciated.
